For anyone trying to get CCNA security (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certificate or CCNP security (Cisco Certified Network Professional) you will come across ASDM (Cisco’s Adaptive Security Device Manager) as part of your exam.

Why ?

Unless you already own a physical ASA to practice on for your exam , you have to use one of the network’s emulators and follow the below steps to get hands on experience in ASDM .

Download Cisco Jabber or Cisco Jabber VDI. Also available on Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Requirements

  1. Running network emulator like GNS3 or UNL , here I am using UNL you could also use GNS3 if you are already familiar with it just make sure you know how to add the ASA image properly.
  2. ASA device image to run on the emulator, here I am using “ASA 5520” .
  3. desktop device image to run , here I am using “Windows XP Lite”.
